The fallout from NeNe Leaks’ rape comment is harming the reality diva’s career.
It was announced on Thursday that NeNe Leakes has been dropped from hosting Xscape’s upcoming tour — one of the most highly anticipated R&B reunions of the year.
NeNe was announced as host of the tour, but after her inflammatory comments towards a heckler at a comedy show went viral, NeNe was quickly dismissed.
During her standup set on stage in Oakland Saturday night, NeNe told the distributive audience member:
“The uber driver, I hope he rape your ass tonight when he take you home.”
The singing girl group released a statement stating they were ‘dismayed’ by NeNe’s comments.
“This tour is for and about our fans and we want to provide an entertaining and enjoyable experience for every single person who attends,” the group explained.
They also wished NeNe well as she “navigates this very difficult period.” The Real Housewives of Atlanta star quickly apologized after receiving backlash for the remark.
“As a woman and someone who has survived abuse, I regret the words that I used. I made a mistake and I should have known better. I hope people accept my deepest and sincerest apologies. I am sorry.”
AllAboutTheTea.com was told by a someone close to both ladies that Xscape’s decision to cut ties with NeNe, was mainly motivated by sponsorships (of the tour) being negatively affected.
