Apparently, it’s not only so-called “regular” folks that are deadbeat dads!

On Thursday, former Real Housewives of New York stars, Jules Wainstein and her estranged husband Michael, appeared in Manhattan Supreme Court. During the child support hearing, the judge ordered Michael to appear in, “contempt of court hearing” — after failing to pay $135,000 in child support and other expenses. This shocking new development could land the NYC businessman in the slammer!

“You should be prepared with your defense,” Judge Katz told Michael Wainstein. “You’ve had two tries and i’m not convinced [you have] an ability to pay.”

According to Jules’ attorney, Allan Mayefsky, Michael uses his parents (Sasha Wainstein and Fanny Wainstein) money on lavish expenditures like: trips to Florida, dinners and other expenses, instead of providing for his two children — Jagger, 5, and Rio, 3.

“He comes up with money when he needs it for his own purposes,” Mayefsky said. “He flies to Florida, has all sorts of expenses, dines out. Recently he threw a birthday party for his son, which was very nice … I don’t deny that, but when can’t pay the court’s lawyers, one would think you had some priorities here.”

The judge did not go easy on Michael and has ordered him to pay $45,080.75 in legal fees, this is in addition to the child support payment. But his lawyer, Morghan Richardson fired back that her client, “doesn’t have a lump sum of $50,000 sitting around.”

Richardson argued that Michael has been making payments when he has the money, including for things like Con Ed bills and his kids’ after school. She also disputed the total sum owed as being $73,000. But the judge did not fall for the excuses and scolded Michael for not financially supporting his children.

“It is my observation that when it’s important for your client to come up with the money he’s able to come up with it. You say it’s from his parents but his parents give him money for the things that are important to him. He hasn’t demonstrated that complying with my orders is important to him.”

This recent foray of mudslinging in the Wainstein‘s public divorce drama is downright messy! Stay tuned.
