Dorinda Medley’s Boyfriend John Mahdessian Will Not Appear on #RHONY 9th Season — Find Out Why!

Sorry to disappoint Real Housewives of New York fans waiting with bated breath to catch a glimpse of Dorinda Medley’s boyfriend, John Mahdessian, this season.

“It was a mutual decision,” Dorinda tells ET of the decision to keep John away from the spotlight in the show’s ninth season.

Dorinda‘s boyfriend learned firsthand last season how treacherous reality TV can be when the dry-cleaning business owner crashed the ‘Housewives’ lingerie party and confronted Bethenny Frankel about Skinnygirl. He referenced the ice cream brand Skinny Cow, Mahdessian told Frankel, “You stole the name.” Incensed, she immediately fired back. “You’re a cow, I’m a girl,” the mom of 5-year-old daughter Bryn sniped. “That’s the difference. Skinny Cow and Skinnygirl.”

“Listen, you learn a great lesson,” Dorinda comments on John‘s absence from the show. “I actually thought about it. I can’t think of any couple on the Housewives that it’s been successful for … If you look at the track record, it’s separating church and state a little bit. I think it’s healthy to be able to do this, go home and have somebody who’s not part of it.”

The blowout left Mahdessian on the outs all season with most of the cast and allegations of drug use by Mahdessian was thrown into the mix.

And John is not the only one that thinks he got unfair edit — Dorinda‘s co-star, Sonja Morgan says he didn’t get a “fair shake” in past seasons.

“He’s such a good guy,” Sonja shares. “Very generous and loving and warm. He got a bad shake there.”

“You know what, he doesn’t need to be on,” Dorinda adds. “He doesn’t. Also, too, I felt like it was distracting from me, the audience getting to see me, and me getting to really get involved with the girls, because I felt like I was protecting and managing him.”

Dorinda confirms that the couple are a still happy unit — and enjoying the time away from the Bravo cameras.

The Real Housewives of New York airs Wednesdays at 9:00 p.m. ET on Bravo.
