Andy Cohen Reveals Why He Kept Jill Zarin’s Cameo on #RHONY Top Secret!

Posted on Mar 19 2017 - 6:06am by Dani-K

The premier of The Real Housewives of New York is right around the corner and Andy Cohen is out kvetching about the new season.

Many fans were SHOCKED to see Jill Zarin in the Season 8 super trailer — and Andy admitted he couldn’t tell Jill ahead of time because she “likes to talk.”

Jill is a Yenta! She likes to talk, and I didn’t want her telling anyone that she was in the super tease,” Andy told AOL about keeping this secret. He added, “Yes! You didn’t see that coming, right?”

Three cheers to Andy for not spilling the tea!

“I think it was better that way, actually. She emailed that morning, and she was like, ‘My phone is blowing up! I had no idea.’ It was great…I just wanted it to come out [in the super tease].

Jill’s role in the upcoming season of RHONY is limited to “once or twice,” but Andy acknowledged Jill’s contribution to the show’s success.

“Well, she only appears once or twice. It’s fun, and it’s great to have her back! Look, I love Jill, and she’s obviously part of the reason the show is as successful as it is. She’s an original, and I told her 1,000 times, ‘Do not tell a soul that you’re doing this! Keep your mouth shut!’ But, it’s going to be great.”

Andy said they wanted to surprise everyone with the trailer and that’s ultimately why they didn’t tell Jill.

The Real Housewives of New York premiers Wednesday, April 5 at 9:00 p.m. ET on Bravo.

“Kvetching” means “complaining” or “whining”, not “mentioning”, which is how the word is used here. The way I’m commenting now is kvetching. The way it’s attributed to Andy in the opening is incorrect.

    • Sandy Wood

Thanks for the semantics lesson, but I caught Dani-K’s drift.

      • MasterOfTheGame

Semantics has nothing to do with it and I wasn’t talking to you, but thanks for replying.

By definition, semantics is “the meaning of a word, phrase, sentence, or text.” So I think Sandy was correct in referring to this as a matter of semantics.

            Oh snap!

          • Sandy Wood

            Thank you JS. 🙂

No problem, I definitely found it more than a little ironic given the “words actually mean things and if you don’t know the meaning of a word, you shouldn’t be using it” line lol

      Yes.

    • JustSayin

I didn’t know that, thanks for sharing.

IMO, Andy knew EXACTLY what the word means and used it EXACTLY how he meant about Jill.

Jill looks fabulous, young, healthy, little to no makeup and simple hair. Bravo Jill!

    • MidwestMiddie

Jill looks younger and in better shape than Bones. : )

  • Sunflower

Jill looks fantastic…. good for her..!
Hope Bobbi is doing well health wise… Jill stays devoted to her man!!
HaHa… funny how it is known that Jill can’t keep a secret and actually Andy has the same problem!!
I am curious when she will be featured on RHONY attached to which storyline.
Hope it is going to be something fun or charitable, since Bobbi has been struggling with his health.
Her daughter, Allie (Allyson) is also a lovely young woman.

    • MidwestMiddie

I’m looking forward to seeing Jill on the show but am sad she will only be on for one or two brief appearances. Those are the only two episodes I’ll watch.

      • Sunflower

        I feel the same sentiment.
Truth is… I do not want to see Jill anywhere near Bethenny!

    • Mental Iceberg 🏇

I know that Luann’s wedding is one “cameo”.

      Don’t know if it’s a two-parter episode.

      • Sunflower

        Hmmm…
Surprised LuAnn’s Wedding will be featured at all.
I thought LuAnn and Tom didn’t want any RHONY cameras around for their Big Day.

        • Mental Iceberg 🏇

I think (and I could be wrong) from what I remember, it’s not the actual wedding. It’s more the things leading up to it. Possibly getting the last fitting, arriving at the location, having a girl’s gab session – something along those lines.

Those aren’t specific, but do you know what I mean?

          • Sunflower

Of course… forgot about the preludes before the actual wedding.
Well… that is going to be fun..!!
            Can’t wait…

If Andy loves Jill so much why did he fire her from RHNY?

    • MidwestMiddie

Andy should have brought Jill back full-time instead of Bones. The ratings would have gone up and stayed up. : )

      • Marsbars09

Hey MM! How have you been? I hardly chat with you anymore.

  • Polly

Ratings would sky rocket if they brought her back full time. Do it!

    • Marsbars09

I wouldn’t mind seeing Jill again.

  • JustSayin

Carole is one of the most unfortunate looking Housewives of all time, that’s all I can think of any time I see her mug.

I never watched the show when Jill was on, so I don’t know the whole history or why some fans despise her. I remember catching a rerun episode with her once, the ladies had all taken some sort of vacation without her and she popped up unannounced and they treated her like SHIT, like she killed someone’s dog rather than show up at a friend’s house without calling. It seemed really ridiculous (of course, I was watching without any of the backstory), Alex was acting like she was about to hyperventilate just being NEAR Jill. I really felt bad for her in that moment.

  • victoria_nyc

Is it really top secret when it’s in a promo?

  • AnEnigmaWrappedIn$nark

Gurlfriend is just himself with glee because he finally threw this thirsty yenta a bone; not to mention overblowing the hell out of her relevance to the show. If she’s such a valuable commodity to the show, why the did he fire her? I really can’t.

  • TartLemon

Oh Gawd! NO JILL ZARIN! It’d be like healing a broken bone then hitting it with a hammer when the cast was removed. Leave it alone. Begone forever.

    • MonaLucy

      LMAO

  • MonaLucy

Not a good move Andrea, now I won’t watch HWNY anymore. Jill Zarin? Really, are you that desperate for ratings?

  • MonaLucy

    BAWBAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Marsbars09

      LOL!

      • MonaLucy

haha hello my Mars! I couldn’t resist haha

  • Glooba!

Messy Cohen “loves” Jill, yet he was willing to fire her in order to “revamp” the show and that was a major fail in every way possible. Glad when Jill left, she took the ratings with her.
I’d hate to see how Messy Cohen treats the people he hates!

    • Marsbars09

We already know how Andy treats people he hates. He’s responsible for the nasty theme of the Housewives franchise.

    • TartLemon

IMO, Andy received the orders from the top to get rid of Jill Zarin. Throughout the show Jill pretended she was in charge of everything. In season 1, everybody was ‘My good friend’ so and so. I remember when she said it about Donald Trump and the head of Dalton or some other elite preschool. I cringe at the thought of that little dog eating the boogers out of her nose. When Andy interviewed Jill one on one at her insistence after the firing, Jill had a friend in the studio audience tape it. The next day, she called around to all the tabs and radio shows trying to sell the uncut version.

Andy and Bravo would be fools to let that snake back in. But, then, that’s what I said about allowing FELON Teresa and her criminal ilk back, too. So what do I know about programming?
