I posted this on the Vanderpump thread but it is pretty much gone so I thought I would repost here for anyone bored enough to read it through.

I actually tried the famous Vanderump Moos Goat Chees Balls in October!

To make a short story long my son is in school in CA and we went for parent week-end. We stayed at an AirBnB in Malibu and the owner did animal rescue. There was a tiny adorable 12ish year old long haired tea cup chihuahua that someone found and turned in. He wasn’t chipped and no one claimed him even though it had been several weeks since he’d been found. So, we adopted him, named him Bu for Malibu where we met him. We still wanted to make an effort to find his owner. He had obviously been well loved given his sweet temperament and manners.

We’d been to Pump when we brought my son out in August but not SUR. Given LVP’s exposure we decided to stop by on the way to the airport with some flyers that I hoped she would be able to post on some of her rescue social media.

Now back to the balls- we ordered a couple of martinis and the famous goat cheese balls as it was past elevenses but we weren’t yet hungry for lunch. I’d heard so much about these balls that I had to try them. Drumroll please……meh.

Oh well, it was a fun experience even though it was too early to be busy and we did not see anyone we recognized.

No one has still ever claimed our new old little guy but he’s livin the life even if not too crazy about the New England winter! Meet Bu.

I’ve never been, but I’ve heard similar stories about the food in general at VB, SUR, and PUMP … not bad, but nothing memorable in the least. Take the “celebrity” out of the equation and like most restaurants, they would have been closed years ago. Basically, there’s a reason LVP does these shows (and it ain’t to shade the other women) … although I guess living out her dream of being famous is an added bonus. But on to more important topic, you simply must keep Bu now!

I like the food at Villa Blanca, plus great atmosphere and people watching when dining on the patio.

        • AnEnigmaWrappedIn$nark

I thought VB was like a hangout for old people where the men wear jackets and ties and the women where sparkly dresses (basically the Todd generation).

          • Why is this happening to us?

            Too stuffy?

          • AnEnigmaWrappedIn$nark

If that’s the case, it would be right up my alley (especially if there are no fcking brats kids running around:-)

          • Gibney13

LVP said VB is a place where men take their wives and SUR is a place they take their mistresses. A little bit of a sexist remark, ya think? But she is a Brit.

          • AnEnigmaWrappedIn$nark

Yes I forgot she said that! I don’t know about sexist, but it was classic LVP:-) If and when we ever get out to L.A. again you can bet I will be trying all three! I still refuse to believe that we’ll see any of the (first string) cast folding napkins or working behind the bar.

The crowd is casual in the day. LVP pulled up in her RR while we were sitting outside. She was friendly and posed for photos.

We didn’t make it to VB but PUMP was decent food but it was the atmosphere I loved under the up lit olive trees. Very vibrant and fun people watching- the food was an after thought but we live near a city with awesome restaurants so I am a harsh critic.

      • Gibney13

Yes, I think he is ours now for sure!

    • the underground train

He is so cute. Thanks for sharing your story.

Aww…what a nice story. Bu is a lucky boy to have found such a loving home. He’s a real cutie too! 🐶
Thanks for your reviews on LVP’s restaurants- I’ve never been to any (or to CA!) and it’s nice to hear your take on them.

Cute dog, and it’s great that you rescued him!

You might (you probably will after eating at Pump and Sur) enjoy this article: go to Google and copy paste in: I can’t get over how bad it was Lisa Vanderpump restaurant

It’s really a good article, lol.

Thanks MI. I recall reading that article before we went out in August- you may have been the one who recommended it to me. That might have been before I got banned from RT Lol! That review isn’t the only reason we picked PUMP as our choice. The olive trees intrigued me and it is the newest of the three and on the show it seems the most likely to find LVP dining with friends.

The one disagreement I have with her review is that I quite enjoyed the Caprese Salad. In fact, 4 months later is is the only dish I can remember. The buratta was very fresh and runny like I like it and the tomatoes were perfect- as they should be in late August. I think VB would be a let down so really glad we didn’t miss a meal somewhere else. Our highlight meal was lunch at Chateau Marmont in April where we saw Emma Watson. Again though, burger was fine but the people watching was fabulous

Omg that was me!! Ha ha and I’m banned from there, too!

          • Gibney13

I was banned because I critiqued the new “writer” who could not diagram a sentence if her life depended on it. Not that I would care if the commentary were worthy- but it wasn’t. It felt strongly as though she was paid to truckle and fawn over certain celebrities who might have paid for positive reviews. JMO. Please don’t ban me AATT. I finally have found a home where I can be myself!!

        • Why is this happening to us?

I would probably choose Pump too if I had to pick one out of the 3. I love the idea of the outside garden, sitting under the olive trees at night. I’m sure it must be beautiful- it looks it on the show. In person, I would think it would be even nicer. If the food isn’t great, i guess it makes up for it with the ambiance.

      • Why is this happening to us?

Thanks for the recommendation! I just read the article and it was a great read. I thought it was hysterical when she said that Giggy was probably dead and stuffed and that they just carry him around! Lmao

      • Rainy Steele

Thank you for that. I was thinking of going there to visit on my way down to SD. It would have been an inconvenience but I wanted to know if the food was good or not.

Edit: OMG that was educational AND hilarious. I think I will pass on all three. Thank you so much for the suggestion. Happy Goat Cheese Balls!

  • the underground train

    Anyone watching Vivica’s Black Magic?

    • Why is this happening to us?

      Yes ma’am! Lol
I think she has a great idea and that show is going to be a success. I totally think women in Vegas would love to see that show. I know I would! (Especially if I were there for a bachelorette party or girls’ trip). Those men are foine! Lol
