  • Why is this happening to us?

Anyone watching Mariah’s new show? Is it worth watching?

She seems like a hot mess lately. I saw the Diva’s special on VH1 the other day, and Mariah was performing…I don’t even think she sings anymore. It looks like she lip syncs to her own track. I think a lot of singers are doing this now. She’d better hope the record doesn’t start skipping like it did with Milli Vanilli! Lmao!

    • Trippinhhard

Or Ashley Simpson on SNL ruined her career.. I watched part of that but I didn’t see Mimi

      • Why is this happening to us?

She was on in the very beginning…first song. I only watched a few minutes because it was attached to the end of something else that I recorded. I didn’t happen to see any of the other acts.

        • Trippinhhard

Ok I saw patti labeled and Chaka sing something they sound good together..

          • Why is this happening to us?

            They’ve still got it!
I saw Diana Ross sing live a few years ago at the US Open opening ceremony…she was awesome!
The real singers are the ones who can still sing all these years later. Some of them don’t sound so great- that’s how you know who was trained professionally and who wasn’t.

          • Trippinhhard

That’s the truth and who didn’t abuse their voices…

I’m so late to the party……just reading comments…….reminded me of when I saw Bette Midler on Oprah years ago. She got up and belted out “For the Boys” with her band. After, she came back on stage with Oprah all out of breath (because she was singing and dancing) and said “That’s how you do it Britney!”. Loved it……real performers as opposed to ones who lip sync to their own tracs.

Saw Diana Ross live years ago too……..definitely a diva attitude but awesome singer.

          • Why is this happening to us?

            Haha…that’s a great story!
Almost all of the singers/bands I’ve seen live are authentic. They all write their own songs and sing their own music. It’s so different today, as many of these new stars are referred to as “performers,” meaning that they don’t necessarily have to have the talent to back it up. In this day and age, it’s all about who you know and the connections you have in the music industry, rather than actual talent. It’s sad how many are auto tuned or lip sync over their own track. I’m glad I grew up when I did! Some of the music out today is laughable!

I thought that was her above. She looks all wonky now. Although, come to think of it, I haven’t seen her on anything for years.

      • Why is this happening to us?

She was on American Idol a few years back and was fighting all the time wit Nicki Minaj…that season of AI was terrible.
Idk what she did to her face, but she looks ridiculous. I think it’s too much filler and it also looks like she gained a bit of weight.

        • SassyMcAsspants

Ah, gotcha. I never got into American Idol, so that explains it. She does look like she has a fillers and weight issue. She’s just too puffy

          • Why is this happening to us?

            Yes…definitely puffy….lol
I think the problem is, she got the fillers and then gained the weight and now she looks too full and doesn’t need the fillers anymore! Lol

          • SassyMcAsspants

            Yeah, definitely.

          • Why is this happening to us?

Now she needs to get the filler sucked out…lmao!

    • AnEnigmaWrappedIn$nark

I gave her stupid (non) reality show “docu series” about 1/2 hr. and then promptly deleted it from my ‘to record’ list … I couldn’t take her tired “dahling” shtick. I also stumbled upon that stupid Diva special and wow how bad was that? Man, when these so-called “divas” fall … they REALLY fall hard.

      • Why is this happening to us?

Thanks for letting me know…I guess I won’t waste my time watching it. I didn’t have too high expectations for it, but the way they were advertising it, you would think it was something special. I remember the classic episode of MTV Cribs she was on…she is out of her mind! She really thinks she is a queen. Lol
I didn’t get to see the rest of the divas, only Mariah. That was enough for me! lol

        • AnEnigmaWrappedIn$nark

If you think watching Mariah stumbling around the stage (with the stupid proverbial “hip hop boys” prancing around her) was bad, you should have seen (an equally F-ed up) Chaka Kahn … although at least she can still sing (kind of).

          • Why is this happening to us?

Oh Jeez…glad I missed it! Lol

      • Magdalena

I did the same thing…watched for about 20 minutes and then deleted it from my dvr. Boring, mindless, stupid, not even slightly amusing.

Is anyone watching Project Runway?!? I am so excited about the final 4 this season.
I can usually tell who will be the final 2 at this point but this season they are all equally talented.

I thought Tim Gunn’s earlier save of Cornelius was misused. Wish he had saved it. His designs have always been, IMO, sloppy and immature. I would have liked to see more from the guy who was eliminated last week.

      • BetteDavisEyez1

So true. I think all of the designers felt the same as well. Especially the guy with the hairdo that thought he was a shoe in for fashion week. LOL!!
I think one of the guys will be eliminated next & there will be 2 women & one guy going to fashion week. If Laurence doesn’t step out of her comfort zone, she won’t win.

        • TartLemon

Laurence designs and execution are very polished, but it’s the same one over and over. Same fabrics, silhouette, same shoulders.

          • BetteDavisEyez1

I know. All four have their own esthetic & if you see her pieces you know she is the designer. I would love one of her jackets but she can not win with 12 black dresses with square shoulders.
I am excited to see Roberi’s collection as well. To be honest, I am excited to see what all four have up their sleeves.

    • MidwestMiddie

LOVE THIS SHOW —- never miss it.

      • TartLemon

Yeah. Especially liking the 90 min version. More creative and judging process shown makes it easier to understand why decisions were made.. When it was only 60 mins, too much of the process was edited out and sometimes I was like “NO!”.

I wish Top Chef would go to 90 mins so I could see more of the cooking techniques.

      • BetteDavisEyez1

        Who are you rooting for?!?

        • Magdalena

I like Roberi. Loved his designs from last night.

          • BetteDavisEyez1

Yes. I wouldn’t mind him winning.

  • AnEnigmaWrappedIn$nark

I’m a freak about “lighting” as well (no overhead or florescent lighting to be found in my home!), but this tired heifa really needs some new shtick. The “diva” thing got old 20 yrs. ago.
