Bravo’s Top 10 Poorest Real Housewives!

The Real Housewives franchise started as a show that pulled back the curtain on the super-rich and gave us a glimpse into their fabulous lives of luxury. But as we know, reality isn’t always real. Let’s take a look at the ‘Housewives’ who aren’t quite as wealthy as they appear on TV.

1.. First up is Teresa Giudice of the Real Housewives of New Jersey. Teresa is our most dramatic case, having gone to prison for 41 counts of fraud, including wire fraud, bank fraud, and bankruptcy fraud, to name just a few. Her duplicitous husband, Joe, is now serving a 41 month sentence in Fort Dix. According to RadarOnline, the pair were hit with a $219,804.38 federal tax lien upon her release from the big house. And that $13.5 million dollar bankruptcy case was recently settled. Remember kids, crime doesn’t pay!

2. Danielle Staub, a former member of RHONJ filed a chapter 7 bankruptcy in 2012. That case was discharged two years later.

3. One of the newest castmates of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Dorit Kemsley, has had financial woes as well. Her husband, Paul, filed for chapter 15 bankruptcy and was somewhere between $10 million and $50 million in debt. Yikes!! His petition to the United States Bankruptcy Court Southern District of New York denied was denied in 2013. When he tried to open the case later that same month, he was denied again.

4. In her divorce filings, fellow RHOBH newbie, Eden Sassoon, claimed to owe money to Macy’s, Saks, Neiman, J. Crew, and Nordstrom. Does our girl have a shopping problem? We’ll have to tune in and see, but I’m thinking…yes!

5. Next up, Jules Wainstein from the Real Housewives of New York. A one and done Housewife, Jules owed money as far back as 2004, filing for bankruptcy in her maiden name. According to Jules, she had no savings and owed $22,000 in debt. More recently, Jules’ estranged husband, Michael, claims she overspends and is driving them further into debt.

6. Sonja “Sexy J” Morgan is no stranger to bankruptcy court. Her saga was played out on the show. She finally got a loan to cover her debt and managed to save her beloved townhouse.

7. And remember pubic hair remover, Cindy Barshop, from her brief spell on RHONY? No? Well, you’re not alone. Nevertheless, Cindy has a federal tax lien to the tune of $142,330.36 as of last month.

8. Nene “I’m Rich, Bitch” Leakes filed for bankruptcy back in 1996 before marrying husband, Gregg. Now the Real Housewives of Atlanta star owes $1 million dollars in taxes.

9. But Nene isn’t alone. Kim Fields had a federal tax lien of over $212,000 before she joined RHOA.

10. Former Real Housewives of Orange County star, Lynne Curtin, stated in her divorce filings from husband, Frank, that she only had $100 to her name back in 2013.

Briefly a blip on RHOC, Peggy Tanous filed for chapter 7 bankruptcy after her time on the show and missed a whopping 75 mortgage payments.

That’s a lot of debt, people. Kind of makes me glad that I live in obscurity.
