Real Housewives of Dallas Season 1

Howdy, y’all! Guess who’s joining the Bravo mega-hit franchise? Welcome to Texas and The Real Housewives of Dallas. All I can say is what the heck took so long? The new series will follow five women as they navigate Dallas’ tricky social ladder. Here are the ladies’ new taglines.

  • Brandi Redmond: “I was a Cowboys cheerleader, but in Dallas, I’m never on the sidelines.”
  • Tiffany Hendra: “I came home to Dallas to shine my light – not to fight.”
  • Cary Dueber: “I’m not a trophy wife. I’m a lifetime achievement award.”
  • Stephanie Hollman: “I’m the girl next door, if you live in a big ole mansion.”
  • LeeAnne Locken: “I grew up a carny kid. Play games with me and you’re gonna pay.”

OMG! Did she say “carny kid?” Won’t LeeAnne be fun getting to know? But these women are much more than pretty faces. We have a medical professional, a philanthropist, an actress, a one-time pageant queen and a former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader. Okay, well maybe some of them are pretty faces.

The Real Housewives of Dallas debuts on Bravo on Monday, April 11, at 10 p.m. ET.  Will you tune in?

I read somewhere a couple of months ago that LeeAnne Locken was doing everything she could to get cast on this show. She’s a big-time fame whore.

    • MidwestMiddie

None of these women are from the wealthiest Texas or Dallas families.
Are any of them members of the Junior League? Could any of them find
3 sponsors to try and become members?
Basically they appear to have money, some more than others, but we
know there has to be one or two of them near bankruptcy. Isn’t that
      a Bravo requirement?
If it looks like Trash, it is. What’s with the “Southern Theme?”
Dallas —– all of Texas —- is Southwestern ……NOT SOUTHERN!
Looks like another Bravo Loser Show.

      • SassyMcAsspants

Lol, let’s blindly play “spot the bankruptcy! My vote is that the “girl next door” is living beyond her means.

        • MidwestMiddie

          LOL

        • Why is this happening to us?

Was that the one walking to the Rolls Royce? Yep…I agree! Lol

      • Sandy Wood

Cheating spouses, looming criminal charges and health issues…more Bravo requirements…

        • MidwestMiddie

          Absolutely!!
And, EGOS so enormous that any shame or embarrassment they bring
to themselves or their families is worthwhile. Just ask
the the Hag from Orange County or the Felon from New Jersey. : )

      • Dani-K

The Junior League is a must. And with oil prices so low, I’m sure bankruptcy is right around the corner. I’m tapped to recap the show – I hope you’ll read it Middie. It wouldn’t be the same without your comments!

        • MidwestMiddie

I’ll definitely read your blog, Dani-K. : ) ALWAYS FUN!!!
You’re right about how dropping oil prices are impacting
Texas wealth. OLD Texas Money will weather the storm but
the newbies are already crying in their kleenex. : /

      • Why is this happening to us?

They don’t seem to have much of a Texas accent to me. Do people from Dallas have a different accent than those in Houston? (I have only been to Houston & San Antonio- never up north)

        • MidwestMiddie

I lived in SW Texas for awhile and picked up a southern type of accent. If you were ever around my one GFs from Oklahoma, you’d find yourself referring to everyone as, “Hon.” I mean EVERYONE!
It has always been easy for me to pick up sayings and dialects. I don’t notice the changes until I’m back home. : )
When I’m in New England, primarily the Boston/Cambridge area, it is
almost impossible to find the true New England Accent until you get away from the urban areas. There are so many people/students living in Boston/Cambridge that accents are global vs regional. However, I
have several friends from New England and their pronounced accents are impossible to miss especially when they get excited about something. LOL
A Boston – New England Accent is probably my favorite US accent.

          • Why is this happening to us?

            Lol..you would love me!
I have the heaviest NY accent. I sound like one of the Mob Wives. Lol
It’s funny that you mention that about Boston, because I have noticed in NYC, the accent isn’t as visible as it used to be. There are so many transients from all over the world, that the NY accent is a dying breed. Lol. Most native NY’ers don’t live in Manhattan, so you will tend to find it more in the outer boroughs.
We have friends that live just outside of Boston (in Winchester) and they have heavy Boston accents. It’s so funny how we are only about 3.5 hours away from them and our accents are so different.
They loved me when I went to Texas! Lol. Especially when I would go order coffee…I would whisper it to the barista so the whole store wouldn’t turn around and stare at me! Lmao

          • MidwestMiddie

—- I can picture you giving your coffee order but you
            shouldn’t have whispered.
Next time, give the customers a cultural treat and speak out!! : )

          • Why is this happening to us?

Hehe…when I was in Texas, everywhere I went, as soon as I would open my mouth, the whole place would turn around and look! It was pretty funny. I would whisper when I didn’t feel like being a spectacle. Lol
My aunt and uncle live in Baltimore, MD and the people down there would get a kick out of my accent. It happens in Boston too- they are more in awe of it than anything. People always tell me they like it and then they ask me to say all kinds of words…like coffee, water, orange, dog, and the list goes on!
It sometimes gets annoying when I’m saying something serious and people are listening more to the accent than to what I’m actually saying! I feel like it’s not the most intelligent sounding accent in the world…lol…but whaddyagonnado? 😹😹

          • MidwestMiddie

            : )

  • Susie Whats Her Name

I can’t wait. It looks like it’s gonna be fun!

  • Sandy Wood

Just when I got the Housewives of Potomac straightened out by name, another crew to identify. At least there are only 5…could be a fun show.

  • SassyMcAsspants

A carny kid! Finally my demographic is being represented on a HW franchise!! LOL

    • Dani-K

      ROFL!

      • SassyMcAsspants

        I’m only half-way joking though, lolol. 😛

    • Why is this happening to us?

Lmao! The carny kid must have hit the big time if she’s on a HW show!

  • UndergroundExpress

    I like Cary’s tagline.

  • 📉 Snarky in Hoboken📈

    Carny kid?

Yay! Deep-fried everything on a stick all-around y’all & watch out for pickpockets.

I’m sad that the Potomac finale is next week & hopefully Dallas is also better than expected. Especially since it looks like we won’t get Melbourne this season.

Don’t ask me why we have to get another season of Thicker Than Water. One season was more than enough for me.

I usually enjoy Texas shows. Texas girls also believe…the higher the hair…the closer to heaven. 🙏

    • SassyMcAsspants

I was surprised, at least from that opening pic, that not a single one of the Dallas ladies had that pageant look.

      • 📉 Snarky in Hoboken📈

Maybe they’l break out a tiara or two at the first BBQ. 😄

        • SassyMcAsspants

          Ha! That’d be sweet!

        • Sandy Wood

          The “Denim and Diamonds” crowd.

          • MidwestMiddie

Have you ever been in a group where you’re wearing your BEST
Chico Jeans, $110.00, surrounded by others wearing
Dolce & Gabbana and Escada Jeans?
Believe Me —– “They Do Exist!”
            LOL

          • Why is this happening to us?

Never happens to me because I won’t spend $100 on jeans and my friends aren’t pretentious snobs…lol
            (I buy $129 jeans, but I only pay $40 for them! 😉 Don’t tell anyone! Lol. I’m a bargain hunter…😊)

          • UndergroundExpress

I need to shop where you shop.

          • Why is this happening to us?

I go to Nordstrom Rack a lot (in store and online), I shop clearance at Macy’s and I go to the outlet stores a lot. I always find name brands and I pay a lot less than retail.
I usually buy my jeans at Nordstrom Rack- I wear NYDJ or Seven and I only pay like $39 for them! (I just bought Seven jeans in Macy’s last week for $28!)
They also have a NYDJ outlet not too far from me and sometimes they have really great sales. Over the years, my weight has fluctuated drastically (up and down), so I try not to spend too much on clothing.
I always find nice Michael Kors, Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, etc blouses and sweaters on clearance at Macy’s or Nordstrom Rack. I tend to buy good deals as I find them- I just bought a dress that was $139 in Macy’s and I got it on sale, with coupons, etc for $44! I need it for a wedding in May and just happened to see it and I liked it. (I buy what I like, not just because of the price). There are times I spend full retail if it’s something I really love, but I try not to, because there is such a mark up on those items.
I’m just not the type to spend thousands on clothing- I never was. I have the money, it just doesn’t do anything for me. I’d rather spend the money on a nice vacation or go out to nice dinners. I’m the same way with purses (like Eileen…lol). I have mostly MK or Coach, but I could never spend the money on a LV or Chanel bag. I just feel like it’s a waste. I’d rather have nice jewelry than a purse.

          • Sandy Wood

Bargain hunter…lol, me too, can’t remember the last time I paid full retail for anything.

          • Why is this happening to us?

Same here! Lol. I hardly ever pay full retail…I try not to unless absolutely necessary. Lol

          • aemish

TaKe uS WiTH You!! Oh! I do have a site you might like! RetailMeNot dot com :o) It’s online coupons and free shipping promo codes

          • Why is this happening to us?

Maybe we can go on a class trip! Lol
I live in NYC, so you can all meet me at Macy’s Herald Square…that will be the first stop on our tour… Lol
I will definitely check out that site! Thanks for the suggestion! 🙂

          • MidwestMiddie

Same here …… One of my sisters gave me my “most
expensive” jeans as a Birthday Gift. On my own …….I always bargain
shop. I have been at a Hen type of party where designer jeans
were the norm and I wore my Chico’s. We looked like we were wearing uniforms —- jeans, white blouses and espadrilles. LOL
However, these women are very nice in spite of their wealth….none
are made for Bravo!! : )

          • Why is this happening to us?

            That’s cute!
At least your friends are nice! 🙂 Definitely not made for Bravo! Lol

        • SassyMcAsspants

Will someone get the vapahs? *Fans herself* I can’t wait, lol.

    • Why is this happening to us?

Hi Snarky! Hope you had a wonderful Easter! 🐰🌷🐣

I agree about Thicker Than Water. Who watches that? I can’t watch it for more than 5 minutes (about 5 minutes longer than I can take Vanderpump Rules lol). It’s horrible!

I miss Melbourne and Cheshire. I have to see if there is a way to watch them online.

I don’t know how I feel about this Dallas show. I guess I’ll give it a try, but my expectations aren’t too high! Kind of like Potomac…If you go in with low expectations, you aren’t disappointed when it sucks! lol. It’s a nice surprise though when it’s good! 😊

      • UndergroundExpress

        I love Melbourne.

        • Why is this happening to us?

I love it too…I wish Bravo would air it on a weeknight instead of a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. I think more people would watch. I only watched it because I made a point of setting the DVR to record it, otherwise I had no idea it was even on!

          • twifan2

They ladies going after Gina big time & Gina ain’t having it! 🙂

          • Why is this happening to us?

I love me some Gina! She’s my fav housewife.
The best line was when she called Andrea (I think that’s who she was talking to) an “insignificant ass hair” lmao! She has some good ones!

          • twifan2

Well Gina ‘delivers’ another good one to them! 🙂
Jackie has REALLY gotten on my nerves this season! Lydia coming in close to first again! 😀

          • Why is this happening to us?

I think Jackie has gotten too big for her britches. I noticed that last season.
Ugh…Lydia…I don’t care for her. Is Pettifleur back? Or did they replace her? Are there any new HW’s?

          • twifan2

Lydia & Pet(yep she’s back) really got into it in the first episode! 😮
I have a ‘feeling’ Jackie might be pregos by the end of the season. It’s pointing that way. 🙁
Yep, there’s another housewife-Susie McLean. She & Lydia have some serious ‘issues’! :/
Now there are 8 housewives on the show. smh

          • twifan2

BUT the other cast members called her out on the pregos storyline! 🙂

          • Why is this happening to us?

It wouldn’t surprise me if Jackie gets pregnant…I think she has been wanting that for a while now. They make a cute couple, although he can’t seem to get a word in edgewise with her around! lol
8 housewives are too many, IMO. I’ll let you know when I watch them and we can discuss! lol 🙂

          • twifan2

Well, since she is ‘psychic’ you’d think she’d know IF she was?! ;D

          • Why is this happening to us?

That’s right! Lol…is she still doing her psychic readings?

          • twifan2

IF you call them that-yep. 😀
Chats is way better at being ‘psychoic’ than Jackie! ;D

          • Why is this happening to us?

            I think I’ll stick with Chats…lol.
I trust cats more than I trust people any day! 😸

          • twifan2

😀 Pay Chats in salmon patties & he’ll ‘see’ whatever you want. 😉

          • Why is this happening to us?

            Hehe…sounds good to me! 😹

      • twifan2

Go to Zippcast, season 3 is there. 🙂
The latest episode isn’t up yet tho. Should be up hopefully tomorrow.

        • Why is this happening to us?

Ooooh! Thanks Twi! Never heard of Zippcast before, but I will be checking it out ASAP! 🙂

          • twifan2

Look at either AATT’s Zipp channel for some, but Coffeeaddict has the playlist for the episodes. 🙂

          • Why is this happening to us?

            Cool! Can’t wait!

      • 📉 Snarky in Hoboken📈

        Hi why! 👋

I had a great one! Hope you had a blessed Easter as well! I saw your Meyer lemon tart! Fantastic! 👏👏👏

I’ll share my pizza rustica on the next open thread.

Yeah I’d love to catch Melbourne as well. I’ll miss it.

        I didn’t call you a pole dancer…I called you a strippahhh!

        • Why is this happening to us?

          Thank you!
Ooh yes! Can’t wait to see the pizza rustica! I’m sure it was delicious! I know you are a good cook. 🙂

      • Dani-K

For me, the reason Potomac is working, must of us aren’t familiar with this town/city so it kind of feels like I’m learning something new. With Dallas, Bravo needs to be careful these women aren’t walking cliches. But the carny kid – this is going to be interesting!

        • Why is this happening to us?

That’s a good point, Dani! I like seeing new cities and I think this is why I’m enjoying Melbourne, Cheshire and Potomac so much. I actually live in NYC and I’m not so impressed with the women- I think it’s because I’m a native NY’er and its all familiar to me already, so if I don’t care much for the women, there really is no reason for me to watch. Bethenny’s are a dime a dozen around here! Lol.
Looking forward to the carny kid too! Lol. I can’t imagine she has much class if she grew up with carnies. Talk about nouveau riche!

  • Thanks Dani-K! I’m super duper excited for Dallas to come along and YES, the Houston vs Dallas rivalry is REAL. LOL!

  • aemish

I look forward to reading the recaps but I’m too burnt out on Housewives to bother with any new series :/

  • twifan2

Thank you Dani-K for doing the recaps! 🙂
Can’t take any more of Brav-Hoe’s housewives anymore. :/

    • Dani-K

Will try to take it up a level – who am I kidding! It’s Housewives!

      • twifan2

Sending you a bottle of Wally World’s Finest! 🙂

        • aemish

          haha :o)

  • Why is this happening to us?

All I could think about when I watched this was….oh great, another Brandi…. Lol. Let’s hope she’s not like the first one!

    • Lila

Lol I was thinking the same thing. And I even like her tagline the best. Oh well, we shall see….

  • LuxLuxLux

I forgot all about this. I’m surprised Bravo’s still churning out the same old s***! They need to change it up, let the drama be natural & film whilst it’s airing.

    • aemish

      ^^THIS!

Love The Peoples Couch, Below Deck, Million Dollar Listings, Flipping Out, Top Chef.. I mean they have genuine people in a genuine setting and genuine relationships! Sooo over these artificial assemblages of strangers masquerading as “friends” — ughh!!

  • Buddy Buddy

Oh goody, another philanthropist. I wonder if she’s as good at it as Katie Rost (wink wink).
