Teen Mom 2 star, Leah Messer is fighting back, after losing primary custody of her twin girls, Aliannah and Aleeah, to their father, Corey Simms. She opens up to US Weekly, to share her side of the conflict, and is vowing to win back joint custody of the 5-year old twins. On October 7th, a West Virginia judge awarded Simms weekday custody, leaving Leah, 23, only weekends with her twins, a ruling Leah describes as “a slap in the face.”

Leah reveals that an August 24th hearing was what sparked the change, when Simms accused her of not getting the girls to kindergarten on time.

“Leah just wasn’t getting them to school,” explains a source.“They were missing and they were tardy.”

Messer insists the accusation is untrue, and only admits to one tardy slip-up. She is challenging the claim, and has set up an October 9th, school board meeting.

“I talked to the superintendent,” she adds, “and I’m sending them the [time-stamped] pictures I took to prove the girls were not tardy. They’re going to take them off.” (School officials could not be reached for comment.)

Messer completed a 30-day stint in a a  treatment facility, in June, citing issues with depression and anxiety. Both of her ex-husbands, have publicly shared suspicions that blame alleged prescription drug abuse, as the real culprit for the behavior that led to the treatment. Leah outlines her plan to refute Simms’ school related accusations.

“I talked to the superintendent,” she adds, “and I’m sending them the [time-stamped] pictures I took to prove the girls were not tardy. They’re going to take them off.” (School officials could not be reached for comment.)

Messer has also filed a motion for reconsideration of the custody shift, with the hope of eventually sharing 50/50 custody with Simms, who is expecting his third daughter with wife Miranda, in January. Leah comments,

“I feel like they should have both of us in their lives,” she says of her twin daughters, adding that their well-being is her only concern. “At the end of the day, my kids are going to be happy, and I don’t care what I have to do to make them happy.”

Messer has been granted the freedom to not publicly address the drug abuse rumors, with MTV joining her in silencing those who try and force her to address the erratic, and seemingly altered behavior she displayed on this past season of the reality show. Hopefully the judge will address the “MONKEY!” in the room.
