In what was supposed to be a ratings goldmine for Bravo has, in reality, turned into a rating disaster. What show are we talking about? The three-part special “Real Housewives of New Jersey: Teresa Checks In.” The show only raked in 1.231 million viewers for the premiere episode. So why didn’t the viewers check in?

One reason for the slump is the Sunday time slot was pitted against “Keeping Up With the Kardashian’s” which has a cult-like following. Another reason could be the public’s disdain for the underlying message that crime DOES pay when it comes to the Giudice family. And lastly, viewers didn’t get to actually see Teresa. Her fans want to see Teresa, up-close and personal, not just a nice photo of her.

As far as contracts go, Teresa was earning the highest salary on the show prior to her incarceration. Many are speculating that this ratings failure could affect her bottom line for the upcoming season of #RHONJ marking her long-awaited comeback because the new deal has not been inked yet.

As previously reported, Joe Giudice was livid that his sister-in-law Melissa Gorga was earning $100,000 for her appearance on “Teresa Checks In.”

Tell us what you think. Is Melissa’s appearance on the special worth that huge check? Will this ratings bomb effect Teresa’s new deal with RHONJ? Will you be tuning in for parts two and three?
