Real Housewives of New Jersey” star Amber Marchese, had the surgery on Monday to remove a new lump in her breast and surrounding tissue and is now recovering from it before taking the next steps. Jim tells E! News,

“The surgery was close to four hours. They removed the tumor and more than 20 millimeters surrounding it. She was in a good deal of pain last night, but she’s been resting and she’s coming home today. After this, she’ll have five weeks of radiation and then another surgery.”

Amber discovered she was battling cancer again earlier this spring. With her first bout with stage 1 breast cancer, Amber underwent chemotherapy and a double mastectomy, and says that after all of the preventative measures it is unusual for the return of the disease.

Jim reveals that the overwhelming fan support has been a comfort to Amber,

“She’s really appreciative of everyone’s thoughts and prayers,” he says. “She’ll be back on her feet in a few days. She’s going to keep going and keep fighting.”

This is the second time Amber has received treatment for the disease after undergoing a double mastectomy following a diagnosis six years ago. After revealing that the lump she unexpectedly found was confirmed as cancerous in April, she shared how rare it is for the disease to return after all those precautionary measures.

Amber also spoke to E! News previously about the diagnosis.

“I’m going to handle this with grace, positivity and faith,” she shared. “I don’t know why this is happening to me, but it is. So I have to turn it into an opportunity to raise awareness. Some good has to come from this.”

Prayers and love to you Amber. Hang in there.

  • WaWaWaWHAT!

She is such a strong woman, I have no doubt she’ll beat this…
Many hugs and kisses to Amber and Family!!!

this is so sad, I thought she had a masectomy before

  • WestCoastFeed

    Prayers for a complete recovery.
But please drop RHONJ mostly for your own sake. You don’t need the stress of the show.
But also for my own sake. I have more cancer awareness in my life than I want right now. I don’t want to watch you dealing with it, too.

I agree. Nobody wants to watch that, we watch TV to escape horrible things like illnesses that happen in our lives. And it isn’t healthy to have fighting and backstabbing that occurs during a reality show when you are fighting cancer, you only need zen like positivity. Don’t see that happening with your husband

Amber, My sincere wish is you beat that horrid C, and re-bound healthy for many happy years. xo

Thanks Marsie. The 25th anniversary of my sisters passing was last week, so this really touches me deeply.

I’m so sorry to hear that T-lily. I had an aunt that passed from the dreaded disease this past January. To top it off my co-worker’s husband is very close to the end due to brain cancer. He told my co-worker early this morning that God is going to call him home tomorrow (I’m choking up as I type this).
We’ll see what God has in store for him.

Thanks I appreciate the kind words Mars. I am sorry to hear that the dreaded C-word has touched your family & friends also. I wish them strength & peace.

        • Marsbars09

          Thank you so much.

Tigerlily, I read on another thread about what a wonderful mom your sister was to her kids. She sounded like a really lovely woman. When you lose someone like that, they are always with you in your thoughts and your heart but I’m sure the 25th anniversary of her passing was very poignant day for you.

    Thanks Doc. Appreciate it.
I’m sorry if I upset anyone by sharing this but I honestly feel you never get over it. You somehow learn to move forward because you have to, but that piece of your heart & soul is always missing. The love you have for them, the missing them, the longing for just one more hug, one more kiss, one more day, the pangs your heart feels, never goes away, never wavers. You just learn better coping skills to get yourself through it.
I still miss her everyday, but I try hard to remember the good times & all the smiles & laughter we had together. She was an awesome lady, a great sister & I am still heartbroken that she isn’t here with me.

Sorry for being such a Debbie-Downer everybody. 🙁

    • Marsbars09

That’s OK T-lily. That’s what the AATT family is all about, supporting each other during the good times and bad. 🙂

    • Oh honey, you’re not a Debbie-Downer at all. You’re a very loving and caring person sharing a personal part of you. Like Mars says below, we’re family. A BIG hug to you. xoxo

Best wishes for a speedy and cancer free recovery. Hope she rethinks participating in this clown show where physical fights over nonsense is the norm. Hope she retains her dignity for her children’s sake and brushes off the need to be famous without talent.

To Amber and her family: Sending positive thoughts with the hope she beats this G-d-awful disease again. With her positive attitude being what it is and the support she has from Jim and the rest of the family, I believe she will. She says some good has to come of this but it already has with the awareness she has brought and with so much of the public rallying around.
