There’s been ongoing tension brewing between Janet Hubert (Aunt Viv from ‘The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’) and star of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” Kenya Moore.
Just to recap, Hubert claims that she wasn’t paid for appearing in Moore’s pilot sitcom, “Life Twirls On” and Moore has been adamant that Hubert was fairly compensated. According to Hubert’s Facebook page, she is suing Moore for unpaid wages and filed criminal charges against the RHOA star for “falsifying official time sheets” and identity theft. If you recall, Hubert even went as far as creating a disturbing video impersonating Moore. On May 2, Hubert posted the following photo and message on her Facebook page,
“The theft of one’s art seems to be at critical mass if not in the music industry but in all forms of art. A house that is burned down can be re-built, a bone that breaks can be grafted, but reputation and one’s name cannot. I use Facebook as my form of communication and friendship, so that the media cannot spin anymore wicked webs. I tell you this because I am proud to be the fighter that I am. I have filed criminal fraud charges against Kenya Moore for falsifying official time sheets, and signing them in my name. If you come at ME, I Will… meet you at the door. You can steal my money, art, you can steal my image… but I draw the line in the sand with stealing my identity. Ms. Moore may live in the Reality Realm, but some of us live in the real world. There are reactions to every action, and for a criminal action, this is my only recourse.”
Today, Kenya Moore took to her Instagram to respond to Hubert’s claims and clear up some misconceptions surrounding the case. The RHOA star also announced the premier date of “Life Twirls On.”
“I don’t fight dirty and when it comes to my business I don’t play. There have been numerous false allegations made from Janet Hubert regarding non-payment for her work on the TV pilot Life Twirls On and most recently criminal activity. Although Miss Hubert had been issued a total of 4 checks for her work since November 2014, SAG/AFTRA has officially determined that Moore Vision Media does not owe Miss Hubert any additional payment and all claims have been settled. We regret Miss Hubert felt it necessary to make relentless personal attacks by slandering the producers, however, we echo the sentiment of the producers of the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and wish Miss Hubert well in her future endeavors. Life Twirls On premieres tomorrow Friday, May 8, 2015 at 8pm. Please go to Facebook.com/thekenyamoore or KenyaMoore.com to watch. Network premiere TBA.”
