Sad News: #RHONJ Amber Marchese’s Breast Cancer Returns

Posted on Apr 24 2015 - 4:42pm by BeachSpin

Amber Marchese

Sad news. Amber Marchese is preparing for battle. TMZ is reporting that her husband, Jim Marchese is confirming that the lump that was surgically removed earlier this week was tested and has been revealed as cancerous. The Real Housewives of New Jersey star has courageously fought back from breast cancer before. She was diagnosed six years ago, and underwent treatment which included a double mastectomy.

Amber is reportedly and understandably frightened, but plans to tackle treatment with the tenacious spirit that was revealed to viewers during her time on the Bravo show, where she bravely described her first experience with this terrible disease. Amber and Jim have honestly shared about the scary discovery and subsequent lumpectomy, with Amber keeping her followers updated via her Facebook account, through an honest and vulnerable pre-surgery post, as well as a post surgery video.

Hold on. Jim just tweeted that he hasn’t confirmed this TMZ story.

    • Vince Foster, Jr.

I saw that but didn’t the results come out today?

      • WestCoastFeed

She expected to hear today or Monday.

  • Nancy Krystofik

Terrible news, Worst news, I only went through it on

  • pixntrix

Bless her heart…to battle cancer once is hard enough but twice no, no ,no. Prayers to her

  • I have a feeling TMZ knows the results and did a cut and paste job from their original story. My prayers and thoughts go out to this family at this time.

    • WestCoastFeed

I think you are right. But I can understand that Jim and Amber want to control the release of the news. I’ll still hope for better news.

      • Mags

Maybe because all family members haven’t been notified.

        • WestCoastFeed

The kids need to be informed first and they may be at school.

          • Mags

            Good thought.

      • Right. Exactly.

  • TartLemon

I do not wish pain and suffering for anyone, but why does this warrant a national press release? How is this more important than any other sufferer who does not have the resources the Marchese’s have?

  • Yolie

Such sad news. Sending love and positive thoughts to Amber and the Marchese family.

  • WestCoastFeed

ROL spoke to her rep who has confirmed the story. So sad.

    • Marsbars09

Hi WCF! So you don’t believe Jimmy who stated to TMZ that he didn’t confirm Amber’s diagnosis?

      • WestCoastFeed

Hi, Mars. No, I believe Jim. I think he just wanted to be in control of how the news was disseminated. He didn’t deny the diagnoses.

    • Vince Foster, Jr.

I wonder why the radio slience?

  • Chloe

So sad. Sending prayers up to Amber.

  • Oh, wow. Prayers to you Amber. I hope that you can beat the monster once again and continue to lead a productive and happy life. 🙂

  • Jennymckitty

I’m sorry to read this. Prayers for her and her family.

  • Birdie

Prayers and love to Amber and the Marchese family.

    • Marsbars09

      Hi birdie!

      • Birdie

Hey Marsie! How was Steely Dan?

        • Marsbars09

Girl, that was one of the best concerts I’ve ever attended. The music was off the hook! I will definitely see them again in the future.

          • Birdie

That is GREAT! I am jealous!

  • Marsbars09

OMG. I got emotional viewing Amber’s message.
This hits home for me because I’ve recently loss one of my aunts to cancer and my co-worker’s husband is terminally ill with cancer. It’s just heart wrenching to hear Amber speak of fighting for her life once more.
Thoughts and prayers to the Marcheses’ during this very tough time.

  • Golden Girl

While it’s sad, at least she has the support of family and the wealth to be able to afford any and all treatments available……..unlike many people out there today who face this battle alone/with little to no support, and without the financial resources to pursue all treatment options. Sorry but this woman IMO is a drama queen and will do anything to get some media attention. Barf.

  • ♥♥♥ Tigerlily ·.¸¸.·*¨·.·.¸¸.

All my best to Amber. Sending thoughts, prayers & best wishes to the Marchese family.
Amber, you are a warrior girl! Kick cancer’s azz!

  • itsjustme

My prayers go out to Amber and her family. I do have a question that hopefully doesn’t sound too stupid. I honestly thought that if a woman had a double mastectomy she wouldn’t get breast cancer again? Can someone enlighten me. Man, do I feel dumb for not knowing that could happen…:(

    • Ilivehereandlikeit

itsjustme, someone else can probably answer your question better than I can as far as the breast cancer but I do know from my husband’s experience that a cancer originating in one organ or body part can be in other areas of the body too, surgery sometimes doesn’t contain it all. If some cancer cells have migrated it might not be known for some time, even years.

I’m speculating here but I’m guessing that the double mastectomy BEFORE a cancer diagnosis is what some do to try to prevent cancer from even starting up. After a mastectomy, well the existing cancer is removed but not a guarantee some rogue cells didn’t migrate elsewhere.

You’re not dumb!! I am often feeling inadequate in my knowledge too of this rotten disease…Me too on prayers and sympathy for this family. This roller coaster is no fun.

    • Brattus Rattus

Lymph nodes are crazy things. I don’t know much about breast cancer or her particular history other than she had it, but I know about cancer. If they didn’t remove all of the lymph nodes around her breasts, there is a chance that it can come back and/or depending on the type of cancer, metastasize to different parts of her body – which is what happened to me. Just removing the breasts doesn’t guarantee anything without removing the nodes. Even then, the cancer can comeback in a different part of your body.
It’s just a horrible thing for her. I don’t give a shit what kind of a jerk her husband is, this is devastating. He’ll probably get worse now because he’s going to need an outlet. I just can’t do this stuff anymore…

  • Just a jersey girl

I think Amber is a very kind person. I am praying for her and her beautiful family

  • nan/4

I sincerely hope that this time they are able to get every last cancer cell, and that Amber will be able to live her life cancer-free. My thoughts are with her.

  • Mary K

Why do people wish her will as we all do but make fun of some others disease? I saw where making fun of Kims drinking problem was a whole “saturday funny”. So we only root for some to be ok and laugh at others MEDICAL problems?

    • Mary costea

Because deep down most people not struggling with sobriety do not think alcoholism is a disease.

  • Vince Foster, Jr.

Jim claims he didn’t confirm but he didn’t deny that the cancer has returned.

    • ItsTurtleTime

Jim could tell me the sky is blue and I’d have to check. That weasel can’t be trusted to tell the time.

  • Ms. Opinion

Might be a good time to stop smoking cigarettes.

  • LadyKathy

I guess some people have to learn the hard way, I hope the catch every cell, she gets well soon. God don’t like ugly.. things happen for a reason.. fyi:he husband is a scumbag,p.o.s that deserve all the messed up shit that happeneds to him
