Celeb Apprentice

We are down to the second to last episode of “Celebrity Apprentice,” season 7. The first hour was just a regurgitation of years past, and I’ll give you the stats later, but first, we begin with Donald Trump calling Leeza Gibbons, Vivica A. Fox, and Geraldo Rivera back into the boardroom to inform them that 1) the entire Team Infinity was fired, 2) they are the final three, and 3) someone will be fired momentarily. After the trio pick their jaws off the ground, Trump individually asks questions on why they shouldn’t be fired.

Vivica says she has every desire to be the next “Celebrity Apprentice.” Geraldo says it makes better sense for he and Leeza to be in the final two because they are equally matched. Shade goes to Vivica. Point goes to Geraldo. Leeza diplomatically agrees with Geraldo’s assessment while at the same time avoiding the further destruction of Vivica’s self-esteem. Vivica tells Trump that Leeza is wonderful and that he should pick Leeza over her. Wait, what? After I rewind my DVR three times, Vivica does in fact quit. Just like that, without any fight. And for those of you who feel it was rigged from the beginning that Geraldo, Trump’s very good friend, would make it to the finals, I hear you.

The final task will be for Leeza and Geraldo to fly in Trump’s private jet to Orlando Universal Studios Resort, produce a 90-second commercial and sell ten vacation packages. They will then fly back and show their commercial at a red-carpet event. Universal executives will be the judges and Trump promised that money is not the overall winning factor so Geraldo’s rich friends can’t buy him the win. Excuse me if I don’t have 100% confidence in this statement. Trump tells Geraldo and Leeza that prior cast members will be in Orlando to help with this large task.

The duo board the plane and I must say, it’s not as big and fancy as I thought it was going to be. This must be Eric Trump’s private plane. When Leeza arrives in her war-room, Brandi Glanville, Johnny Damon, and Kevin Jonas are there to help. Darn! I wanted Kevin to help Geraldo. Leeza’s theme is, “The Magic of Memories,” to tie in with her charity that helps care givers like her mother and grandmother, who both had Alzheimer’s disease, needed. I don’t mean to be a buzz kill, but does the word “magic” remind you of another theme park in Orlando?

Over at Team Geraldo, Vivica A. Fox, Lorenzo Lamas, and Ian Ziering are there to help. And if the Geraldo-haters can’t have Kevin as his helper, Ian is the next best choice. Geraldo asks for ideas, but cuts off Lorenzo after only a few sentences to insert his own idea. I can’t wait for Geraldo to tell us that he’s found the forgotten vault of Harry Potter and plans to open it live! But sadly he doesn’t. Geraldo wants to star in the commercial as an investigative reporter. Cue the boring music.

The executives visit each team to answer questions. From what we see, Team Geraldo does a better job of asking questions and are practically handed their theme: “Discover Your Own Inner Hero.” Teem Leeza is still trying to work out the kinks for their family oriented concept. Kevin has an idea about a micro-managing dad and his family that dump him to explore the park on their own. I hope these “kids” are teenagers with cell phones, otherwise people could get the wrong impression on what to do with their kids when they arrive.

While scouting at the park, Leeza receives a call that she has a donation for $120K, Kevin is snapping area photos, and Brandi and Johnny disappear to get a hot dog and a beer. Leeza and Kevin can’t find them. Kevin suggests leashes because this is what his parents used when he and his brothers were little. (This explains a few things.) In a private interview, Brandi tells us that she thinks Leeza is both inspirational and aspirational. Glad to see Brandi brought her big-girl dictionary to Orlando, but obviously actions speak louder than words.

As for the entertainment, Leeza has secured Olivia Newton-John to sing her song, “Magic.” Geraldo is trying to get Josh Groban, but it’s not looking good. He tells Ian that they may have to write a jingle and sing it. Awesome! La Cucaracha has a shot of redemption. Vivica and Lorenzo go shopping and return with Harry Potter’s wardrobe. Johnny and Brandi are told to go shopping, but aren’t in the mood and decide to ride a roller coaster instead. They purchase a photo and bring it back as proof that they did nothing that was asked of them.

Celebrity Apprentice

It’s the day of the commercial shoot and nothing is running smoothly for Team Geraldo. Mostly because Geraldo changed the shot list that Lorenzo and Vivica set up the day before. Vivica does that side-ways neck thing as she reads Geraldo. Things seem to be fine over at Team Leeza as long as she ignores Brandi and Johnny and only works with Kevin. Drama ensues over at Team Geraldo when somebody forgot to get the kid actors from the war-room and bring them over for the shot. Geraldo is pissed and says from now on he is in charge of every scene. In other words, Lorenzo, you’re fired.

Tune in next week to see Donald Trump choose the winner in a live show between the Lovely Leeza and Hurricane Geraldo. Here are the winners (so to speak) during the first hour.

  • #1 Feud: Piers Morgan and Omarosa (she tells him that his kids hate him)
  • #1 Fail: Gary Busey got “barking mad” when he created a commercial for LG
  • #1 Fundraiser: Marlee Matlin raised $1 million for hearing aids
  • #1 Boardroom Backstab: Piers Morgan and Omarosa (different season)
  • #1 Firing: Melissa Rivers (and Joan Rivers have extreme meltdown)
