Melissa Gorga Reveals Why She Didn’t Film Her Reaction To Teresa Giudice’s Sentencing

RHONJ Season 6

The finale of the “Real Housewives of New Jersey” was an emotional one. Many of Teresa Giudice’s family and friends filmed tearful scenes after she was sentenced to 15 months in prison.

One noticeably missing family member was Melissa and Joey Gorga. Melissa explained in her Bravo blog that she didn’t film her reaction because it was a serious family issue that she wished to keep private.

In Melissa’s blog, she stated:

“Even though there were many positive moments this episode, there was just such a sadness around it all. As you saw, I made the decision not to share our reaction to the outcome of the sentencing. It was an extremely hard day for this family, and I believe issues this serious are meant to be private. I know I’ve asked you before, but continue to pray for their family. It’s been a season of highs and lows, but I think we all ended with a better understanding of each other and overall respect for everyone. I can’t wait to see the reunion; I lived it, but those days are never ending and it all becomes a blur!”

I think that was a great decision for their family

  • WestCoastFeed

Absolutely the right decision. This was not a moment to be shared with the world.

  • I agree with Melissa here. It was tacky and contrived seeing the others cry over someone they can’t stand. The others should have declined to be filmed.

I thought that Jac, Rosie, and Kathy were very genuine in their feelings of both shock and sadness. Nothing felt contrived to me at all. But that’s jmo.

      Hope you’ve been well Doc.

      • Hi Nan. I’m doing well, thanks. How are you?

I thought they were genuine but the scene was contrived. Bravo brought them together for that purpose, it wasn’t natural.

        • nan/4

Of course they did. If they didn’t do that there would be no show. But just because the cameras were there to capture their reactions doesn’t make their reactions any less genuine in my opinion.

I’m hangin’ in here Doc. We’re coming up to a very sad anniversary, so as you can see (read) my nerves are a little raw. I’m happy to hear that you’ve been well. 🙂

I am glad to see Melissa take this stance on such a private family issue; one of the few times I have approved of her actions and it is good to see she has the family’s best interest at heart. I could possibly understand Amber and others outside the family filming their reactions but I felt that Kathy, Richie and Rosie being filmed was in very poor taste, even with Rosie’s prayer. There are just some things that cross a line and in this instance the Wakiles/Rosie did. As Melissa said, this is a very private family matter. I never thought I would say this but good for Melissa.

  • She Stinks!

A good decision, but don’t believe it, this one lies just like all the rest!

She probably wanted more $$ and Bravo said no or she was too busy popping a champagne bottle and doing a happy dance!

I think that they were probably with Teresa and Joe’s parents when the sentencing came down, and the immediate family requested privacy.

    • Hey Nan. That makes sense. I’m glad they kept the cameras away.

I am too Doc, but does that mean that if the cameras are present that the scene is “contrived?” That would make every single scene that is filmed on every HW show contrived. I think that out of respect for Teresa’s parents the reactions were not filmed. Do I give Melissa extra kudos for not filming? Nope, not I! But again, that’s JMO. What can I say? I’m a rebel….;-)

        Be well Doc!

        • I couldn’t agree more! Very well said.

For once Melissa does something right.

Because it was too early in the day for her to drink and do her spastic St. Vitus dance?
Please, this narcissist is absolutely useless.

  • Babson_Chick

SInce when did Missy not want to appear on the cameras – don’t believe anything she says.

    • Marsbars09

      Hi Babs! Neither do I.

      • Babson_Chick

        Hi Mars!!!!!!!!!! Am trying to catch up on all these earth shattering news of our fav or not so fav reality “peoples” (will not use stars) :-}

  • Norrth

Considering the fact they were both facing 50 years, everyone should be celebrating that 15 months is ALL she got. Does it not register with any of these people that she is guilty of FRAUD?

  • Marsbars09

I don’t think Mel would have minded filming a reaction, but Joey was probably too distraught to participate.
Remember Tre revealed on her WWHL special Joey was hysterical upon hearing her sentence.

  • Bravo Changed

This “new” Melissa is a far cry from the REAL Melissa we saw last season who I actually enjoyed. I give her credit for standing her ground and confronting Jan and Penny during the midst of her little expose’ and what would have it Teresa was almost exposed in the end as the ringleader. Then what happened? Everyone who would have exposed the felon in unison got fired and replaced with morons all while Teresa became a fauxsaint and Melissa the sidekick asskisser.

The hag Marco clan had to be told and paid not to be filmed. Fredo crying is only cause Bravo hasn’t called yet naming his wife as the new star of the show. How come Kat, Jac, and crew, were all looking at their phones for information? Not a tv was on in the house. No-one at work – everyone was home. Cause it was filmed way after the actual announcement. Trolls. All of them.

I think folks are going to have to get busy if they’re going to give Bravo a reason to continue with the Real Housewives of Gutter City. We’re all weary of the Teresa Joodice torture train, and another felonious story line will need to be developed pronto.
