Kandi's Wedding

Sad news to report. Kandi Burruss’ musical, “A Mother’s Love” has been canceled.

Kandi cites promoter issues as the cause of the cancellation and states it was beyond her control.

The nationwide tour, was announced in July and kicked off in September in Columbus, GA. The tour was scheduled to make stops across the country, including major markets like Detroit, Memphis, Phoenix, Las Vegas and Los Angeles, among others. “A Mother’s Love” was suppose to wrap up its trek across the U.S. in December when Kandi and the company play multiple nights in New York City.

No official word on how ticket purchases will be refunded.

Kandi released the following statement on her Instagram today:

“I licensed A Mother’s Love to A promoter with high expectations of finally seeing my creation go on the road and I am very saddened and frustrated by the cancellation of the tour. More than that my heart goes out to the cast who all are AMAZINGLY talented.

We really worked hard to put together an awesome show. It breaks my heart that we wont be able to put on this show for my fans who have bought tickets, & who all were looking forward to seeing it. I stand with them in disbelief and despair that this has happened and was caught off guard as well. I want to thank everyone who have supported all of the projects I have worked on. I hope you understand that the cancellation was beyond my control. Please don’t hold it against me! I know that a lot of tickets were sold & from what I understand they will be refunded.

Thank you to all the people who tweeted showing excitement for the show & sending love my way. I was suppose to be headed to Detroit this weekend & to find out that we’re not going kills me. To all the fans who volunteered to be on the street teams promoting the show I promise to make it up to you! I love you guys! Thanks for your love & understanding. Much Love, Kandi”

        • KJ

          On twi!
I’m so sorry! I know how excited you were! My gosh what a wonderful night it was when we talked about that!
          Love ya girl!

        • That’s sucks. I’m sorry, boo.

        • RonnieIsBack

          I was going Sunday….

  • RealitySuxx

I feel bad for her – but at least they are honoring the refunds. I have no doubt she will dust herself off. 🙁

    • Hey honey! Same here. Kandi is known for her astute business acumen, I wonder how did this happen under her watch.

      • KJ

This is awful, wasn’t Todd in charge of promotions? Behind the scenes guy??

        • I believe Todd was the finance guy. I hope he’s not to blame for this mess. I feel bad for Kandi. This is embarrassing.

          • KJ

It’s terrible! She is my favorite on that show!!
            She has so much class!

          • Jennymckitty

Me too, KJ. I’m sick for her and all her fans. Everyone that saw Atlanta, said that it was great. What a shame. And Doc, Twi….I’m sorry for you guys as well.

          • RonnieIsBack

It is embarassing which is why I think there is so much more to it…I truly believe Kandi would cut off her nose to spite her face in certain situations…i.e. why Escape REALLY broke up..etc.
I’m about to do some real snooping..I have fam who are in the industry..especially when it comes to bringing acts to the D…If I find out ANYTHING I will spill it…

          • RealitySuxx

LOL I think the break up of XSCAPE was inevitable, especially with Jermaine Dupree not allowing Kandi and Tiny to write. XSCAPE was 20 years ago – I think they were all young, so anything that happened – I think everyone is entitled to move on and learn. I’d hate for things to be held against me from 20 yrs ago.

Kandi has done a lot and she has helped a lot of people…so this issue with the promoter, to me, while embarrassing, will teach her to not try to help as much and sometimes go for the more mainstream promotion teams.

      • RealitySuxx

Hey there. I think Kandi likes to help “up and coming folks” … but she trusted the wrong source on this one. Good thing is no one was/is cheated out of ticket money, pay checks, etc … and you saw her lawyer flew in right? This was more on the promoter’s end…but I think she learned a big lesson to just go with the bigger promoters next time out.,

  • She Stinks!

I don’t think this is sad news. This vanity project/play looked absolutely awful.

  • RonnieIsBack

Bullchit! I think she is pissed at Poorsha who is rumoured to be boinking some married producer *cough* Todd *cough* on the show and now Kandi and others do not want to film with her….and she refuse to let her travel with them and make money…

Either way I better get my coins back and that phucking service charge too..
    A Mother’s Love…more like A Daughter’s Revenge

Next time you try to come to the D, you are gonna have to pay tax! I’m calling Trick Trick…don’t believe me…ask Mammogram Rick Ross…

    • classycns

Please don’t call Trick Trick on them. LOL.

Kandi has a habit of not taking care of the whole project, she hires people that are not in that field or cheap. She astute in some ways and in others, she falls off the wagon. Why didn’t she just put 1million upfront to ensure the plays success..she’s a last minute person, that get things done, but someone really dropped the ball here..Tyler surely could have given her some pointers and legitimate promoter to hire. It’s not about the money for her, but both of their reputations can take a hit.

    HelllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllP

  • RonnieIsBack

    Oh wait, here it is.

    • Hey Ronnie…. He posted the following along with the pic:

Now y’all know me, I am a noble representative for The People. When something just ain’t right, I’ve got to speak on it. Here it is, the A Mother’s Love 30 city tour has been cancelled after just one week of performing, and no one has said anything to anyone about how they are supposed to get their personal belongings, musical instruments, and other equipment off the back of the truck that is parked somewhere in the middle of West Bubble F&ck, Ohio. Quiet as its kept, word on the street is that the promoter (Theatrical Works) “allegedly” has a MAJOR outstanding balance with the trucking company that was contracted to facilitate the move of the tour from city to city. Mr. Owner of the trucking company said “HELL NO MA’AM! Y’all wont get sh!t off this truck until I get my damn money.” I know that’s right Mr. White Man. All though this adversely affects me and those close to me, I completely understand the trucking company’s stance. Holding the contents of the trucks hostage is the only leverage the trucking company has right now to get paid. Additionally, if the trucking company is unable to recoup what they are owed, they then at least have something they can sell to try to recoup some of their money. No tea no shade, I knew better. Ain’t sh!t of mine on the back of that truck. Nessa Girl I was lugging around 4 damn suitcases full of wigs, clothes, makeup, computers, etc. Lord knows I wanted to allow half of that ish to travel along with the set, but something told me “you hold on to everything you paid for, and let everything they paid for travel along with the set.” Good thing I listened to myself. I’d be bout ready to blow some ish up if my damn Kim Kimble wigs were stuck on the back of some 18-wheeler.

      • RonnieIsBack

See that is just some mess..they were in Ohio which means they were thisclose to Michigan/Detroit, let than 1 hour away…
Kandi could have sent the check..it could not have been more tan $1,000. driving from ATL to here…
Cheapazz..the entire production shut down for something like this…trifling…

I don;t blame FD, I always carry my most prized possesions with me..I don’t check chit…

      • RealitySuxx

LOL – this was smart. Kandi didn’t bad mouth the promoter herself…but still managed to get the word about about the promoter..
