Eviction Delayed! The Gorgas Tenant Escapes Eviction Again!

The tenant dispute between Joe Gorga and the tenant from hell Kai Paterson rages on in another showdown in court today.

Once again, Judge Stephen Taylor delayed the eviction of Patterson. This time, due to the fact, Joe Gorga failed to register his Montville Mansion as a rental property. 

The “Real Housewives of New Jersey” stars, claims they rented Kai Patterson their Montville, NJ home for $20,ooo a month in a rent-to-buy arrangement for the $3.8 million purchase price. Their tenant is currently 4 months in arrears. According to court docs, Patterson’s rent check bounced in April, then he failed to pay rent in May and June.

According to the Gorga’s attorney, Frank Catania, Joe was advised by Montville Zoning officials that registration of his property was not necessary for one-family dwelling.

The judge was forced to adjourn today’s proceedings and reschedule the case to September, 2nd. This was done to give Joe Gorga time to obtain the proper certificates required to lease his home. Once the property is registered, the judge will hear the case again. However, without the correct occupancy certificates the eviction of Kai Patterson is deemed illegal.

Patterson’s attorney, Richard Koppenaal, ordered the case be dismissed on the grounds stated above. He was none too happy about the judges decision granting Gorga time to obtain the proper certificates. He stated in court today: “I’ve never heard of a case where the landlord can go in after the fact to register.” Taylor responded, “It happens all the time in Essex County,” where he formerly presided.

The Gorga’s attorney claims Mr. Patterson owes the reality couple a total of $185,000.

Melissa and Joe Gorga want back into their Montville mansion ASAP to register their three kids for school in September, which is right around the corner.

    What a mess. For the Gorga’s sake I hope they can get the scammer evicted soon. Not that I have any sympathy for letting themselves get scammed by this rat.

      The Gorgas should have had a lawyer draw up the forms. At least done a background check on the guy!

    I’m confused, so you don’t have to pay rent in NJ? How does this guy and his attorney think this case should be dismissed?

      The way he did it the last time was to find a way to delay the eviction for a year. Not bad scamming–a full year living rent free.

        They were greedy and focused on selling their house at the asking price and were blinded.

        • That’s what I’m thinking also.

    • I think that the laws for evicting someone in a rental agreement vs a lease purchase agreement are very different. That’s why this guy is playing such a smart game, plus having an elderly relative in the home makes it even more difficult to put them on the street.

    There’s nothing but shadiness going on on both sides. It appears the Gorgas’ met their match with Kai.

    • I’m starting to think so. There is no way Joe, being an astute business man who’s made millions would not do his due diligence and allow himself to be conned. A simple Google search would have told him all he needed to know about Kai the Squatter.

        Doc, I’ve come to the realization that Joey & Mel aren’t as business savvy as they depicted themselves to be. Going further, I don’t think they’re very smart. I think Joey basically was successful in building/flipping houses due to the economy.

        • I think they got greedy and lost their sensibilities with the first seller willing to pay their asking price. It was a stupid move on their parts.

    • Totally agree, why else would their tenant/buyer agree to a 3.8 purchase price for a mansion in Montville. Now if it were Alpine, I’d say the guy got a good deal, but Montville? The scammers got scammed!

    Odd, why would Melissa want to register the kids when she said they had started construction on their new house? Why would you send them back after they have been in the Franklin Lakes school system for a year? Something is not right.

    • That’s a mystery to me. Because regardless if their new house is in the process of building or not, they are renting in Franklin Lakes so their kids could go to school there. When they moved into the rental they said they wanted to get the kids settled so they could get into schools in Franklin Lakes. I’m so confused with their actions.

    The Gorgas are flat broke. He owes people from Jew Jersey to New York. Google them, they have shown a minus $1.5 million for three years. Their storyline is as fake as her million her tata’s lol

    Joe Gorga lost his construction license right after filming their first episode – he lost his parent’s house and really deceived them? (so dirty) Social media pretty much pointed out he and Melissa were main snitches to the Feds on Tre/Joe at the same time they joined this show. I cannot stand them, and I am betting they will be next with federal problems because even though they may be rats, they are very stupid rats. OK I will stop now lol
